Day 04 – Poised and Ready to Strike

We started the day at anchor in Coles Bay waiting out the Northerly Winds that are forecast to continue into the night. We are biding our time and will weigh anchor and press to the North once this weather system pushes through. For forecast is fantastic for a Bass Strait crossing in 24 hours time and we will capitalise on that moment!

Our Youth Crew have had another action packed day. We cleaned up the ship this morning whilst at anchor and then briefed Rules of the Road, Square sail theory and had a set of Rope Races! This is the competitive non-competitive game which tests each watch’s knowledge of ship’s fittings , sails and general nautical knowledge.

This afternoon after a nice little siesta to manage fatigue, we refreshed our deck safety knowledge ensuring that everyone in the crew is all over their key safeties and able to handle lines and each other safely. The next time we do this will be on a heaving deck with some fresh winds in our sails.

We ended the day at anchor waiting for the Northerlies to abate. Our Youth Crew have settled back into sea watches and will hone climbing skills and bridgemanship overnight.

It will likely be a very early start tomorrow as we weigh and make best speed for the NSW Coastline. Follow us on Marine Traffic and of course by reading this journal!
