Day 5 – Dancing in the Rain
Arrrrgghh Ahoy there skally waggs! The red watch has taken over tonight, coming from salty sea dogs Annabelle and Ray…
Today we started the day off strong with an early game of evolution, chef Stevo cooked us another delicious breaky before rope races – go reddies!! The fun didn’t stop as we ventured into happy hour, scrubbing and cleaning our beautiful ship and busting some moves to TJ’s beats.
The dark and stormy weather bearing down on us didn’t stop the bright and concentrated minds of the youthies, learning about all things sail theory from our talented Captain Leups. Determined, we navigated around the bay, setting all fore and aft sails to memorise them off by heart in preparation for command day. Although wet and windy, the weather didn’t stop our dancing feet, as we broke out the Nutbush through rain and all.
After returning to our safe anchorage tucked in out of the howling winds we received a quick Navigation recap brief from Charlie. Red watch was inspired to whip up some mean lyrics and managed to create what could be the best sea shanty known to mankind… look out for the reveal!
After dinner the watches conducted mid voyage check ins and start, stop, continue discussion. We were able to reflect on the achievements and challenges over the last 5 days with all their excitement. Shout out to the best watch leaders Chris and Simon who helped us navigate this far despite the rough waters!!
To end this eventful day the red watch climbed the foremast to watch the beautiful sun set over the white sands of Jervis bay – shout out to the goat Bec for capturing the moment with her amazing photography skills!
We hope you sleep as well as we will after our anchor watches tonight… with love from the endeavouring youthies.
And happy birthday for tomorrow to the one and only Floody the Floodsta!
Peace out Annabelle and Ray!!!!
Additional shoutouts from Captain Leups: Happy Birthday to my boy Dylan – turning 18 tomorrow! Very proud of you mate, stay safe. Love Dad xx
And from TJ to his fiancé, Bronte: Happy Birthday my love. I hope you have had an amazing day full of all the gifts and cake. I will see you soon, love TJ.
