SAILING OFF MONTAGUE ISLAND
PAST 24 HOURSANOTHER EXCELLENT DAY ON YOUNG ENDEAVOUR. AS THE BREEZE EASED THE SHIP SAILED AWAY FDROM THE ANCHORAGE YESTERDAY AND SLOWLY MADE GROUND TO CLEAR JERVIS BAY. BY LATE AFTERNOON WATCHES CLOSED UP TO REFINE THEIR NEWLY ACQUIRED SKILLS IN PREPARATION FOR COMMAND DAY. EACH WATCH WAS GIVEN A CHALLENGING SAIL SETTING TASK TO COMPLETE IN A TIME NOMINATED BY THEMSLEVES AND TO BE SELF ASSESSED ON COMPLETION. TO EVERYONES CREDIT THEY WERE VERY OBJECTIVE WITH THEIR OWN COMMENTS AND GAINED VALUED EXPERIENCE. AFTER SUNRISE WHALES WERE CONTINUOUSLYOBSERVED OFF MONTAGUE ISLAND AND AFTER COMPLETING A FABULOUS SET OF DEMONSTRATIONAL A POD OF WAHLES PASSED CLOSE BY FOR EVERYONE TO APPRECIATE. ALL WELL AND LOOKING FORWARD TO CONMMAND DAYYOUTH CREW IMPRESSIONSADRIAN CANBERRA, ACT;TILL NOW THE VOYAGE HAS BEEN REALLY ENJOYABLE ESPACIALLY THE VERYFIRST BIG WAVES OUTSIDE SYDNEY HARBOUR HEADS. I WOULD RECOMEND THE YOUNG ENDEAVOUR TO ANY OTHER PERSON LOOKING FOR AN EXCITINGADVENTURE!KATHRYN MELBOURNE, VIC:HAD SOME ROUGH SEAS AT THE START WHICH WERE A GREAT EXPERIENCE ONCE THE SEASICKNESS DISSAPEARED. Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow.
