Mermaids in Coffs
We finally made it to Coffs Harbour after lunch yesterday having battled the northerly winds for three days since leaving Sydney. Whenever YE comes into Coffs it nearly always rains and this visit has been no different. Not to be daunted by the weather the youth crew were keen as mustard to get ashore and feel something steady under their feet. The local yacht club generously allowed us to use their BBQ facilities (all importantly under cover) and we all enjoyed a hearty meal in the evening. We then held ‘three way talks’ which gave us all a humorous insight into the personalities and lives of the youth crew. When returning to the jetty to embark in the boat, and in the process of telling people to be careful, Ange the chef, managed to fall in. She was fine, although embarrased and was presented with a special award for her mermaid efforts. We woke this morning to a glorious day with a light NW wind blowing. After ‘happy hour’ we will weigh anchor and sail north towards Qld. The youth crew are recharged and eagar to get out there. It’s amazing what a little shore time can do.Chat tomorrowAndrew
