Leaving New Zealand

Youth crew V04/00 joined the ship yesterday evening and after dinner we commenced the training program. This crew are a 50/50 mix of returnees and new youth crew. This morning it was up at 0630 for a spot of exercise prior to breakfast and then the morning brief at 0800. Cleaning Stations (Happy Hour) was next on the agenda before the customs agents came onboard to check everybody out of New Zealand. The ship proceeded as planned at 1000 and commenced motoring out of Auckland Harbour. A large classic wooden yacht race was being held and rather than tangle with the fleet during the pre start we held back and watched the spectacle. There were some wonderful boats. Once the race started we stayed behind the fleet and followed them out of the harbour into the Hauraki Gulf. This afternoon we will send all the youth crew aloft as we motor north and then start to set some sail and commence our passage home to Sydney. We have had a wonderful time in NZ but my crew are all looking forward to getting back to Australia.
