Last Night Of Voyage 04/08
Ahoy Shipmates,Welcome to the last Captain’s log for Voyage 04/08. After morning brief this morning the YC completed a quick Happy Hour in preparation for our guests for the half day sail. The anchor was weighed at 0830 and the ship made the short passage to Fleet Base East where she berthed at 0900. After garbage was landed and stores embarked 25 guests from the Australian Signing Choir, and some Staff Crew guests were welcomed onboard. Lines were cast off at 1000 and the ship commenced a memorable 3 hour voyage around Sydney Harbour. The weather was perfect with 10-15kt southerly winds and all of our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The Youth Crew were the perfect hosts and thrived at the opportunity to share their tall ship with a group of young Australians who would otherwise not be able to share in the Young Endeavour experience. The ship returned to her berth at 1300 and once our guests were farewelled we sailed around to our anchorage at Farm Cove. Once at anchor the YC proceeded aloft to complete harbour furls of the square sails, followed by end of voyage talks. Dinner consisted of our final teak deck BBQ, but due to inclement weather the Ships concert had to be cancelled. The rest of the evening will be spent reflecting on the past 10 days and enjoying each others company.Due to our upcoming maintenance period Young Endeavour will not commence another voyage until 19 Apr 08. Until next voyage, take careYours Aye,Captain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
