Last Night Of Voyage

Hi Everyone, This morning we were up early in preparation for receiving our guests onboard for the half day sail. The anchor was weighed at 0745 and Young Endeavour transited the 8nm from Cable Beach to the Port of Broome were we berthed at the Broome Wharf at 0900. All guests were embarked by 0950 and following a short welcome address and safety brief the lines were cast of and the ship proceeded out into the channel in light and variable conditions. Our guests for the day consisted of a group from the Broome Disability Services, representatives from the Yawuru Native Title Holders Aboriginal Corporation, members of TS Broome Naval Cadet Unit and a number of other local guests. Despite the light conditions we still managed to put the ship under a full press of sail and give our guests a small taste of what it is like to sail a tall ship. The Youth Crew acted as perfect hosts and ensured that our guests had a memorable day. Young Endeavour returned to her berth at 1300 and after farewelling our guests we again departed the berth and proceeded back to anchor at Cable Beach. This afternoon we completed end of voyage talks then rigged the rope swing so that the Youth Crew could enjoy one last swim for the voyage. Once everyone was out of the water harbour furls were completed then we enjoyed a teak deck BBQ (cooked by yours truly) whilst watching another memorable Cable Beach sunset. To finish of the evening a slide show of photographs taken throughout the voyage was held on deck which gave all of us the opportunity to reflect on the great times had over the past 11 days.At 1000 tomorrow, with the Youth Crew manning the Yards, Young Endeavour will berth alongside Broome Wharf for the final time for this voyage thus completing an amazing 12 day voyage from Darwin. The Youth Crew and Staff have had a fantastic adventure visiting some of the most remote and spectacular parts of this beautiful country. Along the way we have been challenged, learnt new skills and most importantly formed some great friendships. This has been a truly unique experience which I believe all of us will remember for a very long time. The Staff Crew of Young Endeavour now have a well earned 3 day break in Broome before commencing Voyage 14-09 from Broome to Exmouth which commences on Monday 28 September.Until Next Voyage, take careYours AyeCaptain Gav
