FINAL NIGHT OF VOYAGE
Hi Everyone,This morning was fine but overcast with light NW winds. Following a short morning brief the anchor was weighed and we transited the 7nm to Sullivans Cove were we berthed starboard side to Elizabeth Street Pier at 0900. After sullage was landed and stores embarked, 53 guests from Aurora Disability Services, Rosney College, Hutchins School, Rotary Tasmanian, representatives of Legacy, Hobart City Council and media from the Hobart Mercury were welcomed onboard. The lines were cast off at 1000 and the ship departed its berth and proceeded out into the Derwent River were engines were shut down and the ship brought under sail. In near perfect conditions our guests enjoyed a most memorable 3 hour sail around this spectacular river with the Youth Crew acting as perfect hosts. At 1300 we berthed at Princess Wharf were we farewelled our guests then embarked stores for the next voyage, topped up our fuel then completed harbour furls. On completion the Youth Crew proceeded ashore with their respective Watch Leaders for end of voyage talks.Due to strong southerly winds late this afternoon which made getting of the berth extremely difficult I decided to remain alongside overnight then sail again early tomorrow morning for our scheduled arrival at Elizabeth Pier. This evening we enjoyed our final Teak deck BBQ dinner for the voyage then at dusk commenced a photo slide show up on deck capturing various moments and experiences during the voyage. This gave everyone the opportunity to reflect on the past 11 days and their amazing experiences throughout the voyage. The rest of the evening will be spent completing end of voyage questionnaires and “letters to themselves”, which are returned to each Youth Crew member six months after voyage completion. Whilst the Youth Crew are completing these final administration tasks the Staff Crew will conduct our own ‘end of voyage debrief’.At 1000 tomorrow morning Young Endeavour will berth starboard side to Elizabeth Street Pier for the final time for this voyage where we expect to be met by a largel gathering of family, friends and local spectators.Once alongside I will conduct a brief presentation ceremony before saying our final farewells to the Youth Crew of Voyage 6/10.This completes the Captains Log for Voyage 6/10. Young Endeavour and her Staff will now have a 3 day break in Hobart before the commencement of Voyage 7/10 Hobart – Sydney which starts on Sunday 21 March.I will be handing Command of Young Endeavour over to CMDR Dave (Yak) Jordan for this voyage whilst I take a short break.Until my next voyage, take care.Yours AyeCaptain GavÂ

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
