FINAL NIGHT OF VOYAGE
Ahoy Shipmates,Welcome to the last Captain’s log for Voyage 01/08.After morning brief this morning the YC were turned to at cleaning stations at 0730 in preparation for our guests for the half day sail. The anchor was weighed at 0830 and the ship made the short passage to Fleet Base East where she berthed at 0900. After sullage was landed and stores embarked 39 guests from the Northcott Society, Ronald McDonald House, DEFPAY and some Staff Crew guests were welcomed onboard. Lines were cast off at 1000 and the ship commenced a rain interrupted 3 hour voyage around Sydney Harbour. Despite the weather being less than friendly all of our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the Youth Crew thrived at the opportunity to share their tall ship with a group of young Australians who would otherwise not be able to share in the Young Endeavour experience. The ship returned to her berth at 1300 and once our guests were farewelled the YC proceeded aloft to complete harbour furls of the square sails, followed by “end of voyage” talks. At 1600 lines were cast off and the ship proceeded to her anchorage in Farm Cove. Due to wet weather the evening teak deck BBQ and concert had to be cancelled but were suitably replaced by a gastrenomical feast prepared by Chad in the galley. The rest of the evening will be spent reflecting on the past 10 days and enjoying each others company. As V01/08 draws to a close, it is nice to be able to say what a great voyage we have all shared together.Yours Aye,Captain GavÂ

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
