Final Night Of Voyage 19-09

Hi Everyone, The weather improved overnight and it was an overcast but fine morning that greeted the Crew of Young Endeavour this morning. On completion of breakfast and morning brief it was straight into a deck wash down and cleaning stations in preparation for the arrival of our Half Day Sail guests. At 0945 guests embarked including children from the Pennant Hills High School Special Needs Group, Corporate and Community sponsors, Navy personnel and a number of family and friends. Following a short welcome and safety brief the ship slipped and proceeded into the harbour for a three hour cruise. All of our guests had a wonderful day and thoroughly enjoyed the whole Young Endeavour Experience. The Youth Crew also had a great day and acted as the perfect hosts. The ship returned alongside at 1300 and following a brief farewell our guests departed the ship. After a short break we conducted the final set of rope races and then the Youth Crew lay aloft to put sea furls on all of the sails. On completion of these furls the ship slipped and proceeded to anchor in Athol Bay for the final night of the voyage. This evening we held the final teak deck’ BBQ for the voyage which was followed by a photograph slide show held on deck which gave everyone the opportunity to reflect on their experiences during the past 10 days. The rest of this evening has been spent with the YC completing end of voyage questionnaires and letters to themselves, which are returned to each YC member six months after voyage completion. Whilst the YC were completing these final administration tasks the Staff Crew took the opportunity to conduct our end of voyage debriefs. At 0930 tomorrow morning, Young Endeavour will weigh anchor and proceed to Fleet Base East Berth 5A, were we will berth for the final time for this voyage at 1000.
