Day Eleven – At Anchor Bremer Island
Hi Everyone,Welcome to day eleven of our voyage. The SE winds remained moderate to strong overnight and by morning brief we were located 16nm to the north east of Gove still sailing close hauled under fore and aft sail. One of the many tasks that the Youth Crew Command Team had to achieve was to tack and wear the ship without the assistance of the Staff Crew which they achieved this morning and in doing so demonstrated how much they have learnt since joining the ship. Once completed, they altered course to the SSE and successfully made their way to their final waypoint which they reached just prior to their 1300 deadline. Once this was achieved they handed in all sail and we utilised main engines for the final 2nm coming safely to anchor just in the lea of Bremer Island at 1250. Once at anchor the Youth Crew proceeded aloft and put sea furls on all of the squares and mainsail then on completion assisted Staff Crew with the rigging of the ships awning. Late this afternoon a brief ceremony This evening we enjoyed another teak deck BBQ dinner which was followed by the screening of the classic Tall Ship movie ‘Around Cape Horn’ which was shown up on deck on our big screen. The time is now 2100 and a very weary Youth Crew have now settled into anchor watches overnight ensuring that they are well rested for tomorrows Community Day Sail. Until tomorrow, take care Yours Aye Captain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
