Day 9 – Command Day cont.

Ahoy there, shipmates… Command day has endeth and the worn out Youth Crew did needeth some chill time to wind down after a hectic, but successful, 24 hours(eth?). First, let me cut and paste, Captain Cat’s Log here… then I will give you the rest of the low down after:
“The second half of command day started with us waking up in Gladstone after the staffies got us to our anchor spot during the night. After breakfast, which we were alerted to being ready by the fire alarm going off from the bacon cooking, we had our morning brief with special guest’s budgie smuggler Grannies. They made an appearance to return some of the items that the staffies had left lying around the boat.
After the morning brief we went straight into trying to complete the tasks set to us by the staffies. The first one on the list being happy hour where we cleaned the ship. Following happy hour we got all the youthies into there harness and prepared to climb the fore mast for our group photo. Once the group photo was completed we all climbed back down the mast to enjoy a feed cooked up by our master chefs.
Once everyone finished lunch we all got stuck into the rest of the tasked set to us. Some of these included doing a mural on the deck at mid ships, polishing the brass instruments and bell, putting a slideshow of images together from our voyage., making a rope hammock that could hold all the youthies.
The final task that we completed before we handed the ship back to the Staffies was a 20 minute disco in the boys 12 bunk and the bow of the vessel. All the staffies and youthies crammed them themselves into the room jumping, dancing and swinging glow sticks around.
At 1300 we Youthies handed the ship back over to the staffies and then we had a couple of hours brake to have a power nap. We finished the afternoon off with a debrief on command day. To finish the day we are about to head into sods opera. Wish us luck.
Youthie captain signing off “ … Well, SODs (Ships’ Operatic Department) Opera, as Cat points out, did take place this evening. This is always a bit of fun and an opportunity to tread the boards, expressing ones self with abandonment, ego free…. Staff crew always go first and – if I don’t say so myself – put on a stellar performance (interstellar?), of a Star Wars adaptation called ‘Staff Wars’, starring Princess Lee-Sheet and Darth Fender. Each watch put on a similarly exceptional performance and Horto the engineer did one of his hilarious, stand-up comedy routines. What fun! Anyhoo, great night and now the intention is to remain at anchor overnight, proceeding into Gladstone marina early AM, with a plan to entertain some VIP guests for a few hours… More about that tomorrow. Until then – Captain Adam out+
