Day 9 – At Anchor Portarlington

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to day nine of our voyage. Following a busy night of sail plan changes the Youth Crew made their final waypoint at 0850 this morning which was a major achievement having sailed all the way from King Island. Shortly after we passed through the Port Phillip Bay ‘Rip’ on schedule at 0900.
Once safely in the bay the Youth Crew set about completing the rest of their outstanding tasks prior to handing the ship back to the Staff Crew at 1000. During this period the Staff continued with the pilotage to Portarlington via the Western Channel where we came to anchor just to the north of the Portarlington Marina at 1130.
With Command Day successfully completed the Youth Crew were ferried ashore early this afternoon where they were given the opportunity to have a coffee and browse through the local shops.
Late this afternoon with everyone back on board we rigged the rope swing then gave everyone the chance to have a swim in the cool water of Port Phillip Bay.
This evening following another one of Chef Keely’s amazing dinners we conducted the Command Day debrief then once completed we gave an extremely tired Youth Crew the option of participating in the ‘Spider Web’ (A fun team building activity) or getting a few hours extra sleep before their anchor watches overnight.
Tomorrow morning we will weigh anchor at 0600 then conduct a passage down to Williamstown where we will embark our community group for their Half Day Sail.

Until tomorrow, take care.

Yours Aye

Captain Gav
