Day 6 – Broken Bay…Navigation and Rules of the Road.

Ahoy shipmates…Day 6…still in Broken Bay. The sea and wind outside the bay remain a bit untidy, so we continued to keep the youth crew busy in smooth waters of the bay. The girls have covered the day in detail below, so I’ll leave you here. Until tomorrow, fair winds, Cap K…PS Can someone turn up the heater…it’s bloody cold!———–
Ahoy there land lubbers! What a past twenty four hours! Last night’s watches consisted of a watch growth endeavour to further strengthen and consolidate our teamwork. We were given a set of instructions, allocated ourselves a certain amount of time to complete our task of setting the Main Gaff Topsail. After a considerable amount of bewilderment and discombobulation (15 minutes later) we found the connecting end of the halyard to hoist the sail! An eternity later, sail stowed safely in the bull pit, we set to out next task! NAV CHALLENGE! After smashing it out of the park, we got cut away to bed half an hour early!
**Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles played over a crackly loudspeaker at 7.00am** we were awoken and began our day. After a smashing breakfast of pancakes from our fabulous Ki-Ki-Dee, we conducted colours (raised the flags) in remarkable form. From there we went to our morning brief and prepared for our “short” *Thanks Kenny* bush walk to Cowan. At Cowan we visited the café *singular* and stocked up on caffeine. Returning we came back to a lunch of Ravioli (and Cauliflower Pies for the vegos and vegans). Yum.
Then for the world famous competitive, non-competitive sport of rope races! Today’s testing consisted of examining our knowledge on the mid-ships sails. After some fierce energetic competition, Blue Watch (The best) took the win for today! (Go Bluey’s!!)
We then weighed anchor and started a brief on rules of the road from Jordo whilst motoring from Jerusalem to the heads. Here we learned some important information about “road rules” for on the water which will be vital for Command day which is nearly here! We then worked in watches to deepen our knowledge and practice setting and furling the sails as well as Nav to prepare for our big day! Then we came back and had dinner (Yum as always) and some trivia on rules of the road!
Overall, another fabby day on the Young Endeavour! Half way through!

P.S. Hi Albury Fam an Folks, I am having the time of my life. Haven’t really thought about home until now – sorry. Only thrown up 12 times. Having a ball. Hi Max. – Aylish (Blue Watch)
Another P.S Hi to everyone in Ulladulla. Absolutely loving life on the boat (apart from the sea sickness) but loving being on here with everyone and I am sad to see it go by so fast. Tayha (blue watch)
