Day 2 – Light Conditions
Hi Everyone,Welcome to Day 2 of our Voyage. It was a warm Northern Territory morning that greeted a well rested Youth Crew at 0630 this morning.Following an Early Morning Activity (EMA) and quick breakfast we commenced first climbs of the foremast before it became to hot. These climbs took just over two hours to complete but during this time we managed to get all of the Youth Crew aloft with the majority making it to the topgallant yard (highest yard.Morning brief then cleaning stations followed which completed the morning’s activities. Early this afternoon we weighed anchor, conducted our short pilotage out of Gove Harbour then once in open water the Youth Crew commenced sail setting and furling drills and consolidated their deck safety procedures.By 1600 we were located 7nm to the north east of Bremer Island so the Sail Master called the ship to tacking stations and in very light conditions we successfully completed our first ‘wear’ (put the stern of the ship through the wind) as a crew. Once completed, we shaped a course to the west and in light winds commenced our passage to Darwin.Highlights of the day have been the catching of two fish with the larger Spanish Mackerel being cooked and served for dinner tonight and the witnessing of a spectacular Northern Territory sunset from the deck of Young Endeavour as we slowly sail west.Overnight the Youth crew will settle into their watch routine while we enjoy this light weather sailing. Our current plan is continue west to the Wessel Islands where we plan to transit through the ‘Hole in the Wall’ during slack water at 1400 tomorrow.  Until tomorrow evening, take care. Yours Aye Captain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
