25 Apr Day 10 – V06/25
Ahoy there shipmates!
Day 10 started with an extraordinarily special ANZAC Day Dawn Service at anchor in Great Keppel Island. An important day for all of the Staff Crew onboard, and it was particularly special because we were able to share it with our Youth Crew. After the Dawn Service we had a teak deck ‘gunfire breakfast’, where it was egg and bacon rolls for all! With our service and traditions completed, we rolled into weighing anchor and departed Keppel under blue skies and sunshine. Back to the Youth Program! We held our Morning Brief where Bec told us all about the significance of ‘Sailor Tattoos’ and Sail Master Matt laid out the plan or the day. It was then off to the ever important Happy Hour to make sure the ship was spick and span for our arrival into Gladstone.
It was then a hush fell across the whole ship, it was like the Youth Crew could feel something in the air. It was not long until they were proven right with the commencement of the final round of ROPE RACES!!!! Dan the Man had cooked up an awesome round with lines and tacks and sheets being called out every which way. The final bonus round was a mission to get their Watch Leaders’ shoe to the highest point on the ship possible. Many ingenious schemes and plots were hatched to claim the victory. Ultimately, there could only be one winner, and for V06/25 it was the Reddies (Crabbies)!!!! Well done!
Suitably energised, the Youth Crew then conducted End of Voyage Chats, discussing and swapping lessons learnt with each other and excitedly talking about what was next on the cards for them. We went to anchor at 1700 just outside Gladstone Marina and got ready for Kingy’s fabled pizza night! Throw in Harbour Furls and a final night concert, it was an absolutely action packed day!
Tomorrow we say goodbye, but we still have one more morning left with our intrepid crew! Tune in tomorrow for the final log of V06/25
