Day 1 – Welcome Youth Crew of V10/22

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Young Endeavour’s tenth voyage for 2022. This voyage will see us sail from Brisbane to Gladstone which will give us the chance to sail and explore some of the spectacular Queensland Coast. We have again put together another great Staff Crew for this voyage who I know will take great care of our new Youth Crew ensuring that they all have an amazing experience.

The Young Endeavour Staff Crew for this voyage are as follows:

Captain –  Gav

Sail Master – Chucky

Navigator –  Tori

Watch Officer – Evan

Red Watch Leader – TJ

White Watch Leader – Theresa

Blue Watch Leader – Ash

Chef – Jarod

Engineer – Sumo & Josh

The voyage commenced at 1500 today when our new Youth Crew joined Young Endeavour berthed alongside HMAS Moreton’s Wharf which is located in Bulimba on the Brisbane River.

Once we had everyone on board we mustered our new Youth Crew on deck where I gave my welcome address followed by Staff Crew introductions.

On completion we farewelled family and friends then got straight into a safety brief. At 1600 we departed our berth and transited down the Brisbane River and out into Moreton Bay where we came safely to anchor at 1900 at the not so picturesque ‘Mud Island’.

During our pilotage into Moreton Bay the Watch Leaders took their watches through some ice breaker’ activities and ship tours which was followed by the first of many Chef Jarod’s fantastic dinners. Once we had cleaned up from dinner Chucky conducted his Sail Master chat which was followed by my Captains Brief.

The time is now 2100 and all of the watches are currently completing their Full Value Contracts which will be the final activity for the day.

It has been an action packed start to the voyage which will continue tomorrow with first climbs of the foremast in the morning and our departure from Moreton Bay.

Until tomorrow, take care.

Yours aye,

Captain Gav
