Day 05 – V10/25, Darwin to Darwin

Hi everyone,

Welcome to day five of our northern adventure. It’s been another brilliant day with plenty of activities to keep our young mariners busy, but enough from me, I will now hand over to White Watch, who will tell you all about our day.

Until tomorrow, take care.

Ahoy there ye landlubbers, it be day five of our voyage on Young Endeavour and this message is brought to you by the Great White Sharkies.

Since yesterday’s awesome BBQ, we participated in a traditional activity, three-way talks, which allowed us to delve into each other’s lives by pretending to be each other in front of an audience. We woke up at 6:30 to the most beautiful song in the world, ‘I Am Australian’, absolutely BLASTING through the speakers. That roused us enough to leap out of bed and join our crewmates on deck for some morning exercise. Red Watch then went off to explore King George’s River, and on their way, spotted both a dugong and a seaplane taking off! We had a delicious pancake breakfast, and those on deck spotted a bull shark cut through the ocean.

White Watch ascended the foremast and climbed all the way up to the Course yard, sitting on it and participating in a beloved White Watch tradition: singing Moana. Another White Watch tradition we started is the daily pushup challenge, with a goal of 3000 by the end of the voyage. Today we achieved 1000! only 2000 more to go …

With Red Watch back on the ship and an interesting sailing brief, we used our newfound knowledge to set our sails and head off on the next half of our adventure. With the seas choppy once again, only a few sailors felt its wrath so far. To end the day was another luxurious feast of pork and barramundi, adding to the pleasure of a beautiful sunset on the bow sprit. Accompanied once again by singing and happy birthdays for family back home.

And with that, the great whites go back to the sea,
Austin, Cash, Harry, and Joseph.
