Day 02 – V10/25, Darwin to Darwin

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Day 2 of our voyage. After a good night’s sleep at anchor, the Young Endeavour Crew woke to a beautiful Darwin sunrise. Following an Early Morning Activity (EMA), Big Breakfast and Morning Brief, the Youth Crew were mustered on deck where they were given a comprehensive harness and climbing brief before all successfully undertook their first climb of the foremast, which can be extremely daunting to some but I’m happy to report that it was a fantastic effort by all.
At 1300, we weighed anchor and then commenced our passage out of Darwin Harbour and into the Beagle Gulf. During this passage, the Youth Crew spent time with their Watch Leaders practicing setting and furling of sails and learning what the many sheets, tacks, halyards and other lines and ropes on Young Endeavour do before putting all of this knowledge into practice early this evening by completing our first set of tacks as a crew.
The time is now 2030, and following another big day, our young mariners have now settled into their watch routine for the night as we continue to make good speed to the west.
Until tomorrow, take care
Captain Gav.
Messages from the crew – Happy 11th Birthday, Emma, from Dad.
