Ahoy Shipmates

This morning we awoke at 0630 to a perfect Guichen Bay morning so instead of the normal early morning deck activities it was decided that everyone would test the South Australian water temperature by enjoying an early morning swim. As expected the water was cool but those of us that braved the conditions thoroughly enjoyed it and kick started the day totally invigorated.

After morning brief there was just enough time for a quick set of cleaning stations (happy hour) prior to us weighing anchor and departing the very scenic Guichen Bay and continue our journey east.

As the morning winds were light and variable we had no alternative than to motor sail for the first couple of hours until the wind freshened. This occurred as expected during the early afternoon so the engines were shut down and all fore and aft sails set. On completion Sumo conducted another set of rope races which saw all of the watches evenly matched in the point score. We have now just completed a set of rotational tacks, this to allow the youth crew the opportunity to experience and gain an appreciation of each other's jobs in maneuvering the ship and to better prepare them for the rapidly approaching Command Day.

We are now settling in for another good nights sailing with the expectation of a wind shift and the realization that we will all be required on deck to tack ship sometime throughout the night.

Yours Aye
