MORETON BAY
Ahoy there everyone, Welcome to day two of the voyage. Following a well deserved and much needed good night’s rest the Youth Crew awoke at 0630 to a stunning Brisbane morning accompanied by a cheerful tune from Sail Master Jordo. After breakfast all hands mustered for the morning brief detailing the day’s activities and words of wisdom from various staff members,Captain Safety alias JB, presented a very comprehensive safety equipment presentation and demonstration ensuring the no matter what the situation the Youth Crew should find themselves in, that they would have the knowledge to overcome any adversity at sea. On completion of lunch all lines were cast off and the ship attempted to depart the Portside Cruise Wharf unfortunately environmental conditions kept the ship pinned against the wharf. In the interim the Youth Crew under the guidance of their Watch Leaders, spent the remainder of the day conducting line handling and deck safety, gaining the foundation skills required to work the sails safely during their adventure at sea.Weather conditions abated later in the afternoon which enabled the ship to safely depart the wharf at 1730 prior dinner and a spectacular sunset as the ship slipped under the Gateway Bridge silhouetted by a full moon. The ship then transited the Brisbane River and across Moreton Bay before entering the Coral Sea at 2330 and shaping a course nor’ east motor sailing at 7 knots with light and variable winds.Overnight, the Youth Crew are now settling into their first night watches learning to helm the ship, adjust the sail plan and conduct engineering rounds (checks of the engine room compartment).Until tomorrow evening, take care.Yours AyeCaptain Damien

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
