Montebello Islands
Hi Everyone, Due to very light conditions we had to motorsail throughout the night and the early hours of this morning. By morning brief we were located 80nm to the north west of the Montebello Islands still utilising main engines but making good progress towards our planned anchorage at Trimouille Island. On completion of cleaning stations hands were called to tacking stations and we conducted a set of demonstration tacks’. These tacks allow each of the Youth Crew the opportunity to witness tacking the ship from bridge and from a command perspective. Following lunch and another close set of rope races I conducted Captains setting and furling drills, which is designed to test the Youth Crew’s levels of safety, knowledge and teamwork as a final check before Command Day. The three watches demonstrated that they had come a long way in a very short period of time and were well on track for the challenges that would face them over the course of the quickly approaching Command Day. Following this exercise all sail was handed in and the Ship motored the final 2nm to her anchorage at Trimouille Island, which is located in the Montebello group of islands. That evening we witnessed a spectacular sunset followed by an equally impressive moon rise while we enjoyed another memorable teak deck BBQ’. Following dinner the Youth Crew again mustered back on deck to watch the classic Tall Ship movie Around Cape Horn. On completion of the movie everyone turned in for a well deserved good nights sleep at anchor.Tomorrow morning we will proceed ashore to Trimouille Island where everyone will be given the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear water and explore this picturesque island.Until tomorrow, take care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
