Have Departed Mackay
Hi Everyone, This morning we commenced our program at 0630 with an Early Morning Activity (EMA), followed by a hearty breakfast, Colours (raise flags and sing National Anthem) then morning brief at. As usual our first morning of the voyage is extremely busy. On completion of morning brief it was straight into a cleaning stations (Happy Hour), this happens every morning so that we start the day with a spotlessly clean ship. Following Happy Hour it was straight into Bel’s Safety Equipment lecture and to finish of the morning the Watch Leaders spent time with their watches instructing deck safety and some sail setting and furling drills. During this time the contractors continued to work on the generator with the expectation that they would have the defect rectified by mid afternoon. To keep the Youth Crew busy during the afternoon the Sail Master organised some sport at a nearby park followed by a refreshing swim at the beach. Finally, by 1700 our starboard generator was fully serviceable and everyone was back onboard eager to get underway. At 1715 lines were cast off and YE departed Mackay. Once in open water the engines were shut down, sail set and under a very pleasant 12kt north easterly breeze shaped a course to the south east. Being the Youth Crews first night at sea they will spend this evening settling into the sea routine of watches and commence learning how to sail this magnificent ship.Until Tomorrow, take care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
