Hi Everyone,
Following a well needed sleep, the Youth Crew were roused at 0640 this morning in preparation for the half day sail. By this time the Ship was already underway, as the Staff Crew had weighed anchor at 0545, negotiated the narrow entrance out of Tangalooma and then conducted the 18nm pilotage to Fisherman Island. By 0915 we had positioned ourselves at the entry to White Island (part of Brisbane Port) were we had previously organised to rendezvous with the Brisbane Water Police who had kindly offered to ferry our half day sail guests out to the Ship. By 1000 all of our guests were onboard and following my welcome address and a safety brief we commenced a very enjoyable three hour sail up the Brisbane River. One of the highlights of the day was receiving a gun salute from a Military Festival taking place on the banks of the river as we passed, which in turn, was returned by Young Endeavours cannon. At 1300 we again returned to White Island were we farewelled our guests who again were ferried ashore by the Water Police and the Ships RHIB. On completion of this boat transfer, we proceeded back into Moreton Bay were we anchored at Mud Island. Once at anchor the Watch Leaders conducted end of voyage talks then proceeded aloft with their watches to complete a good set of harbour furls. This evening we enjoyed our final BBQ dinner for the voyage then at dusk commenced a photo slide show up on deck capturing various moments and experiences during the voyage. This gave everyone the opportunity to reflect on the past 10 days and their amazing experiences throughout the voyage. The rest of this evening was spent completing end of voyage questionnaires and letters to themselves, which are returned to each Youth Crew member six months after voyage completion. Whilst the Youth Crew were completing these final administration tasks the Staff Crew took the opportunity to conduct our end of voyage debrief and safety meeting.

At 0700 tomorrow morning Young Endeavour will depart her anchorage at Mud Island then conduct the long 18nm pilotage up the Brisbane River to the Dockside Marina where we will berth at 1000.

Once alongside we will invite family and friends onboard for a tour of the ship and to witness the presentation of Voyage Certificates. On completion of this short ceremony we will farewell the Youth Crew of Voyage 09-10.

YOUNG ENDEAVOUR will now remain alongside at the Dockside Marina until Friday 18 June when she will embark the new Youth Crew for Voyage 10-10 which is from Brisbane to Bundaberg.

I will be taking a well earned break during the next voyage and assuming command of YOUNG ENDEAVOUR for Voyage 10-10 will be CMDR Andrew (Gunna) Rourke. I will return to the Ship for Voyage 11-10 from Bundaberg to Mackay.

Until next voyage, take care.

Yours Aye

Captain Gav
