Ahoy Shipmates,
This morning the ship weighed anchor and proceeded alongside berthing at Fleet Base 5A at 0905 in preparation of the half day sail. At 0945 a number of guests embarked including children from the special education class of the St Vincent Primary School in Ashfield and a group from the Australian Signing Choir (hearing impaired) who had travelled all the way from Newcastle to join us for the sail. Following a short welcome and safety brief the ship slipped and proceeded out on the harbour for a three hour cruise. All of our guests had a wonderful day and thoroughly enjoyed the whole Young Endeavour experience. The YC also had a great day and acted as the perfect hosts. The ship returned alongside at 1310 and following a brief farewell our guests disembarked. After a short break we conducted the final set of rope races and then the YC lay aloft to put sea furls on all the sails. These furls were completed by late afternoon and the ship slipped and departed her berth at 1615 proceeding to anchor in Taylor's Bay for the final evening of the voyage.

For dinner this evening we had our final teak deck BBQ which and was closely followed by a very entertaining Ships Concert. The rest of the evening will be spent with the YC completing end of voyage questionnaires and letters to themselves, which are returned to each YC member six months after voyage completion.

Tomorrow at 1000 Young Endeavour will berth at Fleet Base East for the final time for this voyage were we will be met by family and friends. Following a brief ceremony we will farewell the Youth Crew of Voyage 04-09.

This ends the Captains Log for this voyage. The Ship will now commence a 10 week maintenance cycle prior to commencing our circumnavigation of Australia on the 23 May 2009.

Until next voyage, take care.

Yours Aye

Captain Gav
