V06/21 Brisbane to Gladstone
19 Jun - 29 Jun 2021
Alongside in the Gladstone Marina - last few hours onboard for the youth crew.
Good afternoon Shipmates, the last time I talk to you about Voyage 06/21 and the adventures of our able-bodied youth crew. After last night's hectic activities, including the SOD's (Ship's Operatic Department) Opera otherwise known as the Ship's concert and the two remaining outstanding Command Day tasks - the song they had to write and the slide show recording their adventures during the voyage, the Youth Crew managed to convince Sail Master Rio to let them have a sleep-in until 0730! Unheard of! We embarked QLD Health staff to conduct the COVID19 testing of the crew at 1100, just after we held the Voyage Completion Certificate presentations and the awarding of the Young Endeavour Award for this Voyage to Mia Dickson, well deserved. Approximately 20 families and friends were on the wharf to observe the presentations and listen to the short speeches. Once all Youth Crew had been tested they were authorised by QLD Health to disembark and there was much hugging and a few tears as they crossed the gangway for the final time of the voyage. It has been an honour to have such a fine group of young Australians in my crew for 11 days. We have certainly shared some adventures. Best regards. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
You may be leaving Young Endeavour now, but Young Endeavour will never leave you!
