Hi Everyone, Welcome to day six of our voyage. Overnight and during the early hours of this morning we continued to make good speed to King Island and by sunrise we were located 35nm to the SSE of Portland motor sailing under fore and aft sail in moderate to strong ENE conditions. During the day we continued with the training program completing Mid Voyage Chats, Rope Races and a very good set of Demonstrational Tacks. During this activity we bring the Youth Crew to the bridge and show them how we tack and wear the ship so that they can achieve this by themselves on Command Day. To complete the day’s activities a Martin gave presentation on Astrological Navigation and explained how the ship’s gyrocompass works. By early this evening we were located 70nm to the west of King Island eagerly awaiting a forecasted cold frontal system which is due to reach us later this evening and provide us with some favourable westerly winds and good downwind sailing conditions. Our current plan is to anchor at King Island’s Grassy Harbour tomorrow morning where we have organised a bus and tour guide to show the Youth Crew around the Island and in particular the famous King Island Cheese Factory where I am sure that everyone will enjoy sampling some of the Islands amazing cheese. Until tomorrow evening, take care. Yours Aye Captain Gav
