Day Eleven – Cable Beach

Hi Everyone,Welcome to day 10 of our voyage.Overnight we continued to make good speed to the SSE and our final waypoint of Cable Beach. During the early hours of this morning the wind veered which enabled the Youth Crew to put the ship under a full press of sail (most fore & aft sails and all squares) then we were able to sail while enjoying a magnificent sunrise. These conditions remained for a number of hours which enabled the Command to complete another of their tasks which involved tacking and wearing the ship which they achieved just prior to reaching Cable Beach. On completing this activity the Youth Crew handed in all sail then we motored the final 2nm coming safely to anchor just off Cable Beach at 0945.Once at anchor the Youth Crew Command Team and their Crew completed a number of their other tasks before handing back the ship to the Staff Crew at 1200.Due to the stronger than expected conditions we had to move the ship to a new anchorage which was just in the lee of Red Rock Point which provided us withy a little more shelter from the south westerly swell. This afternoon we ferried the Youth Crew ashore to Cable Beach where they enjoyed an afternoon of beach sports and a swim at one of Australia’s famous beaches.By 1700 everyone was safely back onboard and following another great dinner we conducted the facilitated Command Day debrief with everyone agreeing that this had been an extremely successful activity. The time is now 2130 and a very tired Youth Crew have now settled into anchor watches for the night.Tomorrow morning we will weigh anchor and proceed around to Roebuck Bay where we will embark our Community Day Sail guests who will enjoy a memorable 3hr sail onboard Young Endeavour and the Youth Crew of Voyage 16/16. Until tomorrow, take care. Yours Aye Captain Gav
