COMMAND DAY PART 2

Hi everyone,

Started off the second half of command day to very smooth seas and next to no wind. Youth crew organised morning aerobics which was a huge success, followed up by an amazing breakfast by our youth crew chefs. We kept the tradition alive with the morning brief, it started with a talk from the sail master, navigator, Nanna’s daughter and the Captain to discuss the plan for the day. The plan for today was to complete as many tasks as possible and arrive safely anchored off shore at Mackay.

One of the first tasks was to clean up the ship, with a huge happy hour followed by a rust and brass clean and polish to ensure the ship was in ship shape and in top order. While most of the crew were completing this task the command team were trying to navigate the quickest and safest route to Mackay, which in turn proved challenging with around 2-4knots wind for majority of the day. Another task that was quickly checked off the list was to create a mural at midships. The girlies put their creativity to work and came up with a outstanding mural.

We miraculously made it to our destination within the time assigned, where the youth crew was rewarded with a relaxing afternoon. After handing back over the ship to the staffies we all had a big debrief on what we will take from the challenge. A scrumptious dinner and a relaxing movie (Pirates of the Caribbean) under the stars was a great way to end command day, looking forward to the challenges that come tomorrow.

Until then … Goodnight.
