Day 6 – Forecast Improves
Hi Everyone,                  Welcome to day 6 of our voyage. The good news is that the severe weather that has been lashing the coast of Spain and other parts of the Mediterranean is finally moving on which means that we will be doing the same. Our current plan is to depart Cadiz at 1000 tomorrow morning and again tackle the Straits of Gibraltar which hopefully will be a little friendlier this time around. While in Cadiz we have not been sitting idle as we have been trying to identify what has been causing our main engines to overheat when we have been motor sailing or in rough weather. The answer was that we had managed to suck some plastic bags into our salt water intakes which meant that this was starving the engines of cooling water. It all seems very simple but we had to get engine contractors and divers in to help us rectify this problem. So it just goes to show that plastic bags don\’t only hurt the environment and marine life they can also stop a 44m Tallship.  Today the Youth Crew have been busy climbing both masts, doing some more deck work and enjoying their last night in Cadiz prior to heading back to sea as once we get underway tomorrow we will right back into our training program ensuring that we now make the most of their time at sea.  Until tomorrow, take care.  Yours Aye  Captain Gav  Â

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
