This morning saw everybody awake and on deck at 0630 for some early morning games followed by a normal hearty YOUNG ENDEAVOUR breakfast.
Following morning brief and the ceremony of Colours (raise flags and sing National Anthem), the Youth Crew tackled their first happy hour (cleaning stations) with great enthusiasm and before long the ship was sparkling (shipshape). We then weighed anchor and departed Boston Bay on the first part of our voyage to Geelong. The rest of the morning was spent setting and furling sails and learning the intricacies of tall ship sailing. By late this afternoon assisted by a strengthening south westerly breeze we had set all sails and completed our first set of tacks, a complex piece of teamwork in a square rigged ship. We have now just crossed the Spencer Gulf and have settled into watches for the night and are experiencing some very enjoyable sailing.
Tomorrow morning will see us pass north of Kangaroo Island through the Backstairs Passage and onto Encounter Bay.
