Ahoy there Shipmates,

Kyle woke the crew with another of his favourite tunes and then it was into a quick shower, breaky and then pack our bags. It’s the last day of the voyage!

After the final Morning Brief and Happy Hour for the Voyage, Young Endeavour departed our anchorage at 0900 and the Youth Crew laid aloft in the old Naval tradition of ‘Manning the Yards’ for the formal arrival. After doing a ‘fly by’ Stokes Hill wharf we berthed at the Fleet Base HMAS Coonawarra at 1000 in front of family and friends. Following a brief ceremony we said our final farewells to the Youth Crew of Voyage 15/16. It has been a magnificent journey and one not to be forgotten.

I hope you have enjoyed sharing the adventures of this voyage through my Captain’s Log over the last eleven days as much as I have enjoyed writing about them. For me the voyage has been very special. I am not Young Endeavour’s regular Captain, I am actually the previous one. The regular Captain, Gav, was kind enough to offer me the opportunity to make a ‘return guest appearance’ to allow him a short break from the Ship. I will hand Command back to him tomorrow.

The ship will depart Darwin on Sun 18 Sep 16 when it sails for Voyage 16/16 to Broome.

Yours Aye

Captain Mike
