Day 10 – Penultimatum
Ahoy dear readers. Anchored in Athol Bay, Port Jackson this evening as I write this, the penultimate log of our fantastic voyage and I must say, it has been a wonderful adventure. Ships staff have completed all post voyage administration, including voyage debrief and a safety team meeting, and now the youth crew are all but in bed… I’m about to shift into pj’s myself and get some much needed (albeit unobtainable) beauty sleep lol, but let me just recap our day for you… So, we woke our bodies then our chakras with a spot of “Yoga by TJ” at 0630, followed by breaky, morning brief, cleaning stations, then we conducted a final set of rope races before youthies lay aloft for the last time to harbour-furl the squares. We need to look fabulous for our final farewell tomorrow and fabulous we do look indeed (note to self – get Dan to wash all the vomit off the side of the ship in the morning). Then after lunch our youthies teamed up with their watch leaders for a final talk to debrief the voyage, and provide us with some feedback, then off to the beach they went. Meanwhile, Keely whipped up some belissimo pizzas which were devoured on the return of youth crew. To round out the day we had a ships concert, with all watches and the staff, performing skits for our entertainment. Then a final recapping of the voyage in the form of a photographic slide show, and in poem as Youthie Andrew recited an original, inspired by the voyage. Well, that’s that. This is the final night onboard YE for V14/21. 10 Days ago 17 youth crew from places various, came together to sail this vessel, have fun and challenge themselves. They have not only done that, but have faced and overcome fears and learnt a lot about themselves and each other along the way. Tomorrow they will leave with new skills, improved persistence, resilience and adaptability, as well as generally knowing they are more capable than what they probably thought. And of course, having made great new friends – most probably, friends for life. It never gets old for us staff members, as we truly love our work. Yours Aye, Captain Adam Charlie Farley+

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
