COMMAND DAY

THE YOUTH CREW TOOK COMMAND OF THE SHIP AT 1200 ON TUESDAY. OUR
COMMAND TEAM HAD BEEN ELECTED THE NIGHT BEFORE AND CONSISTED OF
MYSELF, XO - LU, NAVIGATORS - IAN AND DYLAN, WATCH OFFICER - KARINA, TEAM LEADERS - JARED, JONO AND PAUL, AND CHEFS - LEAH, NICOLE ANDSAM.

ALL THE REST OF THE YOUTH CREW ALL DID THEIR PART AND COMPLETED
EVERYTHING THAT WAS ASKED OF THEM. ALL IN ALL IT WAS A GREAT TEAM
EFFORT WITH GREAT SPIRITS AND POSITIVE ATTITUDES ENJOYED BY ALL.

WE HAD TO SAIL FROM LADY MUSGRAVE ISLAND SOUTH TO BUNDABERG PASSING SOME WAYPOINTS THAT MENT WE HAD TO TACK. OUR NAV TEAM PLOTTED THE COURSE AND WE WERE UNDER WAY. WE HAD A SLOW START BUT BY NIGHT TIME WE HAD ALL OUR SQUARES SET AND WERE ENJOYING A CRACKING PACE.

DOLPHINS AND WHALES WERE SPOTTED WITH A HUMPBACK BREACHING ONLY METRES OFF OUR STARBORD BOW.

EVRYONE WAS WOKEN UP BY A CALL FOR HANDS TO TACKING STATIONS AND THEN BY BREAKFAST TIME WE WERE ALL SET TO CONTINUE A NORMAL COURSE. ALL MORNING IT LOOKED AS IF WE WERE GOING TO MAYBE HAVE TO KILL SOME SAILS TO ENSURE WE DIDNT ARRIVE TOO EARLY.

WE DECIDED TO GO FOR SOME BONUS POINTS AND GET A PHOTO OF 20 PEOPLE ALOFT. IN THE MIDDLE OF DOING THIS, WE WERE HIT BY HEAVY RAIN AND A MASSIVE CHANGE IN THE WIND JUST AS WE WERE 2.5 MILES OUT FROM OUR LAST POINT. BY THE TIME WE GOT EVERYONE DOWN AND TACKED, WE WERE OFF COURSE AND RUNNING OUT OF TIME. WE WERE ALL WET, BUT WE DUG DEEP AND ARRIVED AT BUNDY 3 MINUTES LATE.

THIS WAS AN AMAZING EFFORT BY ALL AS WE COME SO CLOSE TO MAKING OUR OBJECTIVE, WERE HIT BY SOME BAD LUCK WEATHER AND WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME. MASSIVE CONGRATS, WE ALL SHOWED HEAPS OF TICKER AND WE SHOULD ALL TAKE SOMETHING AWAY FROM THIS VOYAGE.

CREW CAPTAIN MICHAEL BIG TICKER CAMILLER, NSW.

COMMAND DAY RED WATCH LEADER

I THINK I CAN SPEAK FOR ALL OF US WHEN I SAY THAT THIS VOYAGE WAS
CHALLENGING, DRAINING, INTENSIVE, BUT MOST OF ALL EXCEPTIONALLY
REWARDING. EVERYTHING FROM REEFING SAIL LINES AND NAVIGATING, TO
SWIMMING AND WHALE SIGHTING ADDED TO THE NEW SPIRIT OF CONFIDENCE WE ALL NOW FOSTER.
