At 02:00am this morning we successfully anchored at Hunters Bay to the relief of most. We encountered no problems during the voyage, however seas were comparitively rough. Wet weather gear was required during the night due to stormy weather and several of our crew experienced sea sickness.
Special mention goes to Phil (our XO) who sacrificed sleep to see us safely into Sydney. Also thanks to our watchleaders Robert, Emma and Deb for their excellent management of their respective watches. Great work guys.
We woke up this morning in good spirits and completed several of our tasks in sunny weather. One of these tasks involved making a hammock on deck that could support Youth Crew and staff. This task was completed and exceeded expectations. Special mentions aslo to chefs Ani, Clint and Bec for an awesome breakfast.
Our navigator Jess and our Officer of the Watch Matt entertained the crew at morning briefing and our navigators set the course for the day. At approximately 12:00pm we reached Sydney Harbour and completed the task of sending 20 Youth Crew aloft for photos.
Once anchored we sent our Beach Assault Team to the Opera House to recruit civilians and give a rendition of 'Advance Australia Fair'. This was carried out flawlessly and with little time to spare. We now spend the rest of the afternoon playing, Bbq'ing and relaxing. We also await our debriefing regarding Command Day.
Thanks Youth Crew for an outstanding effort and I have greatly enjoyed my time as Captain. I will also extend our thanks to staff and Captain Chris for their trust in us and for the challenges of responsibility.
