Alongside Mackay Marina

Last night we held a concert on deck which was a lot of fun and good for a laugh. Following the concert it was time for paper work and the YC had a critique to complete as well as some other form filling. Besides anchor watches it was then time for bed although most of the YC seemed reluctant to waste their final hours onboard asleep and spent a lot of time up and about chatting and reflecting on their voyage. This morning we weighed anchor shortly after 0900 and the ship motored the few miles from the anchorage to the berth arriving at the Mackay Marina at 1000. As we berthed the YC had manned the yards and sang with gusto the National Anthem. Once we had tied up and the YC had returned to deck, I addressed the YC and presented Voyage Certificates. I then had the pleasure in awarding the Order of Australia Emblem to Lana Collison from Maitland, NSW. The voyage was now over and we had experienced some wonderful sailing together in some of the worlds most beautiful cruising grounds. The YC had had a very good Command Day and the vast majority had put in a great effort and took away from the voyage as much as they could. That’s a wrap from me. We now have the weekend in Mackay and I’ll chat on Monday.Andrew
