PAST 24 HOURS

WINDS HAVE YET AGAIN PROVEN CHALLENGING AS THEY HAVE HAD A
PREDOMINANTE SOUTHERLY COMPONENT. OUR DESIRED DIECTION IS OF COURSE TO THE SOUTH. THIS WITH SEAS INCREASING TO 3- 4 METRES HAS
MEANT OUR TEAM HAS HAD A ROUGH TIME OF IT, BUT ARE SOLDIERING ON.

THE AFTERNOON WAS CAPPED OFF WITH A QUICK DISCUSSION ON SAIL THEORY AND THEN SOME ROTATIONAL TACKS. THE AIM BEING TO GIVE A EACH WATCH A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF EVRYONE ELSE'S ROLES DURING THE EVOLUTION.

OVERNIGHT WATCHES CONSOLIDATED SOME SAIL HANDLING, NAVIGATION AND CLIMBING SKILLS, ALONG WITH SOME MORE GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER ACTIVITIES. ALL IN TRYING WEATHER CONDITIONS.

OUR TEAM IS CONTINUING TO DEVELOP AND EVOLVE, AND TO DATE THEIR
PROGRESS IS PLEASING.

COMMENTS FROM YOUTH CREW

HI FROM MEGAN, LISA, AMANDA, AND AIMEE
ANOTHER ROUGH DAY ABOARD THE YOUNG ENDEAVOUR... ALOT OF SEA SICKNESS (TOO MANY TO NAME). CAPTAIN DION TRIED TO TEACH US SOME SAIL THEORY ALTHOUGH MOST OF US SPENT THE LECTURE HEAVING OVER THE SIDE OF THE BOAT OR DRIFTING OFF TO SLEEP FROM THE TABLETS... THE SEAS ARE HIGH BUT SO ARE OUR SPIRITS WE WILL NOT BE BROKEN.. NANA DIESEL (SHIPS MUM) IS HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE AT MORNING BRIEF THAT DESPITE THE STATE OF OUR STOMACHS OUR BERTHS HAVE IMPROVED IN CLEANLINESS (MUM WOULD BE PROUD) BUT THIS MEANS LESS OF US DOING SILLY DANCES IN PAYMENT FOR HER CLEANING... WE'RE ALL SAFE AND LOOKING TO FOREWARD TO LAND IN BROKEN BAY ... SPEEDY OUR WATCH LEADER IS LOOKING AFTER US AND NUTURING OUR TALENTS.. AIMEE IS TYPING AND IS ABOUT TO THROW UP SO THAT WILL BE IT FOR NOW. WE ARE ALL LOOKING FORWARD TO A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP. LOVE TO ALL OUR FAMILY FRIENDS.

NAUTICAL TERM OF THE DAY

HELM: A SHIPS STEERING WHEEL. A WHEEL THAT TURNS THE SHIPS RUDDER TO GIVE THE SHIP STEERAGE WAY. THIS IS THROUGH THE FLOW OF WATER OVER THE RUDDER FORCING THE STERN ONE WAY AND THE BOW THE OTHER.
