26 Apr Captain’s Log – Day 11, V06/25
Ahoy there all you Armchair Admirals and Salt Horses,
We have reached the final day of our spectacular voyage. Mixed feelings abound when the ship woke up this morning. The Youth Crew were certainly excited to see their loved ones and complete their epic quest, but were also sorry to say goodbye to their much loved nautical home. After one final game of Ubuntu, the crew cracked into breakfast and the rest of their morning routine. But soon, it was time to weigh anchor and lay aloft to crew the yards. A centuries old naval tradition, by putting all the crew aloft in the rigging a ship signifies that it brings peace and goodwill to the port she is visiting. Coming alongside to Gladstone Marina, we cleared the powder from our ceremonial cannons and cast our berthing lines across to dry land.
With all of our loved ones coming across the gangway, it was laughs and hugs all round for the Youth Crew as they took in the enormity of what they had just achieved. After a quick speech and presenting the Youth Crew with their certificates of achievement, it was finally time for our Salty Sea Dogs to return once more to the shore. It has been an absolute pleasure being able to watch these incredible Young Australians grow and learn from each other and their parents and friends should be mighty proud of them!
This voyage has come to an end, but just around the corner will be their next great adventure.
Fair winds and following seas
