At Anchor, Gatcombe Head, Gladstone Harbour

G’day, this is YC Commanding officer Peter. At 1 am this morning my command team and I took over control of the Young Endeavour. At this point in time we were running way behind our target points. As one of the first things I commanded was to set as many sails as possible, due to the wind being from behind us we were able to set almost all sails. As morning approached and the wind was still a miserable 4 to 5 knots we new we would have to turn on the engines in order to make it to Gladstone Harbour by 1 pm today. And so we Made it to Gladstone in one piece however we were 10 minutes late. A reasonably good effort given the weather conditions hindering our progress. At the end of our command period and after succesfully making a hammock on deck holding all youth crew members and the staffies and getting all youth crew aloft at the same time we had a debrief from the captain. According to him we did quite well, despite a slow start.Hence we come to me writing the log and trying not to fall asleep whilst typing it, so apologise for any mistakes.Overall it has been an amazing experience and havn’t regretted anything.CO PeterThanks Peter,Tomorrow we will have a half-day sail from Gladstone, where we will host the Cerebral Palsey League aboard and show them the ropes”. The weather is looking good for a very pleasant sail.We are know in the home run
