AT ANCHOR, FARM COVE SYDNEY HARBOUR

Ahoy Me Hearties,Another voyage has begun!Yesterday afternoon we farewelled family and friends at Fleet Base and Sailed to Farm Cove next to the magnificent Sydney Opera House, where we anchored. After some ice-breaker activities, a ship’s tour, and dinner at Cafe Sammi, we got into our first climbs. Overnight we completed our second climb to the topgallant yard, and everyone made it no problems. At 34m off the water at the top, some found it a bit challenging. This morning we had “colours” where we rasied the flag (singing the national anthem) followed by morning brief, then “happy hour” (cleaning stations) and our final set of safety inductions. Later this morning we will get into line handling drills. After lunch we will sail and commence passage to Burnie with setting and furling drills as we go. Fortunately the weather forecast has calmed down considerably, so the big seas we were expecting won’t be so big after all. The big challenge for the remainder of the day will be to get everyone up to speed on sail handling, so that we are able to tack the ship as a crew before dark. I’ll let you know how it all went…Until tomorrow shipmates,Yours Aye,Chris GallowayLieutenant Commander, RANCommanding Officer
