We have just had an awesome sail overnight from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast around Stradbroke and Moreton Islands. With a fresh westerly wind we made excellent time, sailing at 6-7 knots all the way.Following yesterday’s great shore expedition to Wavebreak Island in the Gold Coast Seaway, we conducted the Bear” exercise during the night watches. The Bearex is a teamwork exercise intended to prepare the youth crew for Command Day. This morning in brilliant Queensland sunshine we completed demonstration tacks (a bridge-eye view of how the ship is tacked) and assessed setting and furling drills
