Today saw the commencement of Voyage 04/08 the fifth voyage for YOUNG ENDEAVOUR in 2008. All new Youth Crew arrived safely onboard and after Crew introductions and safety briefs YOUNG ENDEAVOUR was farewelled from her berth at the Williamstown Workshop Pier by family, friends and well wishes. On departure we headed straight out into Port Phillip Bay and commenced our four hour passage (against a 20kt headwind) to Mornington, which is our anchorage for this evening. While underway we conducted Ice Breakers followed by Ships familiarisation tours.
Dinner was served at 1730 and Chef Chad produced another amazing meal which left all of us wondering how we are possibly going to shed any of those excess kilo's during this voyage. With dinner complete and the galley clean it was straight back into safety on deck and sail setting drills. Once the Ship was safely at anchor it was time for Captains and Sail Master briefs followed by the completion of Full Value Contracts prior to everyone turning in for a good nights sleep. Tomorrow morning will see everyone complete their first climb of the foremast followed by some more sail setting and furling drills prior to departing Port Phillip Bay and heading out into Bass Strait. Predicted winds for tomorrow are currently from the south/south west and should assist our passage.
