Wind 160 / 30 kts

Good Evening Shipmates,

Well it’s been quite a tough day in the office. In the wee hours of the morning the ship continued to work northwards out of Hervey Bay before the forecast southerly change came through. This enabled us to free sheets and set the topsail as we headed NE to clear Breaksea Spit to the north of Fraser Island. As we did this the topsail was clewed up and sheets brought in hard as we commenced what will be a long work south in the strengthening conditions. By mid afternoon the wind was steady at 30 kts from the SE and the seas began to build. Young Endeavour handles these conditions very well although for the crew it becomes quite exhausting. We tacked the ship at 2000 (8 pm) and there was no sign of the wind abating. It’s going to be a bouncy night tonight. The YC are going great guns.
