At sea off Wollongong

Our returnee Youth Crew and Telstra Radio Team joined early today for our voyage to Hobart. We are the Radio Relay Vessel for the Race but our secret mission is to WIN. Don't tell anyone, OK?

There were some great views as we left the Harbour at 11am. We worked our way seaward and did some sail handling drills and some tacks. We saw the 'James Craig' in full sail and then headed back inshore at the start of the race to see the big yachts pop their spinnakers as they rounded the sea buoy and head south. We kept up as best we could and we have made good progress with nine sails set, thundering along at nearly 10 knots.

The current wind is helping us but the southerly change is due to be with us tonight. Everyone onboard is OK, but with a few comments like 'it wasn't this rough on my voyage' floating around.

Speak tomorrow,
Andrew Davis
