TWENTY FOUR YOUNG AUSTRALIANS JOINED IN MACKAY FOR THEIR ADVENTURE UNDER SAIL. AFTER THE WELCOME ADDRESS ALL YOUTH CREW CLOSED UP IN WATCHES TO DEPART MACKAY AND ONCE CLEAR OF THE BREAKWATER STARTED ICE BREAKER INTRODUCTIONS AND SHIP TOURS. THE SHIP ANCHORED OVERNIGHT OFF ROUND TOP ISLAND TO ALLOW ALL YOUTH CREW THE OPPORTUNITY TO CLIMB ALOFT IN RELATIVELY CALM CONDITIONS. TO EVERYONES CREDIT ALL YOUTH CREW SUCCESSFULLY CLIMBED UP AND OVER THE LOWER TOP AND RETURNED BACK ON DECK. THIS ACTIVITY OCCURED AS THE MOON ROSE A SPECTACULAR SIGHT. OVERNIGHT ALL WATCHES PROGRESSED IN CLIMBING ALOFT AND KNOT TYING. DURING THE SILENT HOURS A HUMPBACK WHALE AND CALVE STOPPED ALONGSIDE FOR A LOOK AT ALL ON DECK.

EVERYONE WAS JOGGING AROUND THE UPPER DECK AT 0630 TO START THE DAY IN A GREAT FRAMES OF MIND. DURING THE FORENOON ALL PARTICPATED IN THE BRIEF, HAPPY HOUR, ENJOYED A WONDERFUL MORNING TEA AND FINISHING OFF WITH DECK SAFETY ALL BEFORE LUNCH. A FEW YOUTH CREW ARE FEELING THE EFFECTS OF THE SHIPS MOTION WHILST AT ANCHOR THOUGH THEIR SHIPMATES ARE KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON THEM. ALL THE BEST.
