At anchor Round Top Island, Wind SE 12kts, Temp 20, clear evening

Yesterday evening we enjoyed a BBQ at a local park and we then returned onboard for the Command Day debrief. Nearly all comments were positive which was a true reflection of the success of the command day. Communications and teamwork were key and they excelled in those areas.

This morning we gave the ship a good clean in preparation for receiving our 'half day sail' guests. We had 20 people from the Endeavour Foundation onboard. We sailed at 1000 and went for a three-hour sail. The new crewmembers were fully integrated into the crew and very soon we had them heaving away on lines, climbing aloft and steering the ship. They had a ball and I applaud the efforts of the YC in making them welcome and getting them involved in sailing the ship. We berthed again at 1300 and our guests soon departed with huge grins and fond memories.

The ship sailed again at 1400 and as the ship motored to our overnight anchorage, end of voyage talks were held. The YC are now harbour furling the square sails and I expect dinner will be served late as they still have a way to go. We will hold a concert on deck this evening that I hope is entertaining - they normally are.

Tomorrow we will weigh anchor to enable us to get alongside at 1000, where I hope to berth in the Mackay Marina.

Chat tomorrow
