Hi Everyone,
Overnight the wind strengthened and we continued to make good ground to the south. At 0540 the ship was called to tacking stations and altered course to the west so as to close the coast and take advantage of the predicted morning south westerly change. This occurred just prior to morning brief when the wind strengthened to 25kts giving us perfect sailing conditions for the morning. At 1030 we again closed up at tacking stations, but this time to conduct demonstrational tacks. This activity gives the Youth Crew the opportunity to come to the bridge and observe how the ship is tacked from the command position. On completion of this activity we were entertained by a pod of enthusiastic dolphins who much to the enjoyment of everyone decided to escort us into Harvey Bay. Given the perfect sailing conditions the Youth Crew spent the early afternoon fine tuning their sailing skills, before being given some quality 'down time' so that they could just enjoy the peace and tranquillity of being at sea. At 1500 everyone mustered on deck and we celebrated Courtney's 18th Birthday with a fantastic cake (complete with sparklers) that was decorated by her watch. During the night watches tonight all watches will complete the BEAREX (initiative and teamwork exercise) as the ship continues to make ground towards our next anchorage at Platypus Bay.

Until tomorrow, take care.

Yours Aye

Captain Gav
