Ahoy there Shipmates,
Sail Master Baggers woke the crew at 0600 on a grey, damp Newcastle morning. The EMA he had cleverly devised was for the Youth Crew to erect our mid-ships awning.
After the final Morning Brief and Happy Hour for the Voyage, Young Endeavour departed Queens Wharf at 0900 and the Youth Crew laid aloft in the old Naval tradition of ‘Manning the Yards’ for the formal arrival. We berthed back at Queens Wharf at 1000 in front of family and friends. Once the youthies were down from aloft we held a brief ceremony, during which I gave a voyage completion certificate to each Youth Crew Member and presented the Order of Australia Branch of NSW sponsored ‘Young Endeavour Award’ to Nathan Vanderdonk. We then said our final farewells to the Youth Crew of Voyage 10/18. It has been a magnificent journey and one not to be forgotten.
The ship will remain in Newcastle until Sun 24 Jun when it will embark a new Youth Crew for Voyage 11-18, Newcastle to Brisbane.
