JERVIS BAY

Ahoy Shipmates,Due to the prevailing north easterly we continued to motor sail throughout last night and sunrise this morning found YOUNG ENDEAVOUR 15nm south of Bateman’s Bay. After the normal morning activities I conducted Captain’s Setting and Furling Drills which was followed by lunch. By mid afternoon we were making our approach into Jervis Bay so engines were shut down, yards braced and sails set. Hands were then called to tacking stations so that on entering the bay we could conduct a set of demonstrational tacks. Once within the bay we were buzzed by a low flying FA 18 Hornet and then HMAS PIRIE conducted some close manoeuvres giving the YC the chance to have a close view of a new ARMIDALE Class Patrol Boat at speed. On completion of demonstrational tacks the ship came to anchor in Darling Road (southern part of Jervis Bay) and the YC wasted no time in proceeding aloft to sea furl all sails. The pool was opened just before 1700 and the majority of YC and Staff took the opportunity to have a swim in the crystal clear waters of Jervis Bay. Tonight the YC completed their Command Day elections, which has been followed by some preparation work for commencement of tomorrows much anticipated challenge of taking command of YOUNG ENDEAVOUR.Yours AyeCaptain Gav
