Day Seven – Weather Improves
Hi Everyone,                   Welcome to day seven of our voyage. The strong south westerly winds continued overnight and during the early hours of this morning. With these conditions came a large swell which brought on the first bouts of seasickness for the voyage. As the morning progressed the wind backed to the SSW which now meant that we had to beat upwind tacking every 2hrs to gain ground to the south. During each one of these tacks we brought a number of the Youth Crew to the bridge so that I could talk them through how to tack/wear the ship which was a way of conducting demonstrational tacks over a longer period of time. Also this morning between these tacks we took the opportunity to conduct mid voyage chats which enabled the Watch Leaders to sit down with their watches and assess how the voyage is going. This afternoon the wind moderated to 15-20kts and the swell dropped off to less than 1m which quickly cured signs of seasickness. Given these improved conditions I took the opportunity to take all three watches through Captains Setting and Furling Drills then early this evening we held the Command Day Brief followed by Command Team elections. With these activities completed we are now heading for Beadon Bay where we expect to anchor just to the north east of the coastal town of Onslow at 2300 this evening. Once at anchor we revert to anchor watches overnight ensuring that the Youth Crew are well rested for tomorrows Command Day. Until tomorrow, take care. Yours Aye Captain GavÂ

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
